Tijon Company, Inc. was founded in 1976 by son and father, Tim and John Polovina — who combined their names to form Tim + Jon = Tijon. In the beginning the company supplied local mines with consumable goods. In 1992, current owner and president Dave Polovina bought the company, and a commitment to quality products and outstanding service helped the business thrive.
In 2006 Tijon entered the bolter bit production business. As the first bit came off the line, no one could have imagined the success that would follow. Nearly five decades in, we still hold true to the core values that built the company.
After nearly 50 years, Tijon still operates with a quiet remembrance of what brought us here — and an eye on a bright future for the company and the customers we serve.
Tijon started producing bolter bits on location in 2006. With the purchasing power to keep costs low and over 15,000 square feet devoted solely to bit production, we've quickly become an industry icon.
A proprietary blend of tungsten carbide. In 2011 and 2012 we ran our 1" and 1 3/8" premium bits against a world-renowned competitor's comparable product — and won on both durability and cost. Our exclusive 9-stage case hardening process is a closely guarded trade secret, and it's what makes these the most durable bits available.
